Vishal Patil stays  in fray, Sangli battle gets intense

Pune: The Maharashtra Congress has decided to expel Vishal Patil, grandson of former chief minister Vasantdada Patil, who has refused to withdraw his nomination papers from Sangli Lok Sabha constituency.

On the last day of withdrawal of nomination on Monday, Vishal Patil did not withdraw his candidacy. 

This means, he remains in the fray. And now, he will be fighting it out with sittting MP Sanjaykaka Patil and Chandrahar Patil of the Shiv Sena (UBT).

Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe said they tried their best to make Vishal Patil withdraw from the race but he did not listen.

Mr Londhe said MPCC chief Nana Patole will take appropriate decision against him which includes his explusion.

While Congress was eyeing to contest the Sangli seat, the Uddhav Thackeray led Sena had refused to give up the seat. 

The Sena said it given the Kolhapur seat to the Congress and therefore wanted to contest in Sangli seat.

Congress MLA Vishwajeet Kadam tried his best to get Vishal Patil fielded from Sangli seat. He met various Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and others but to no avail.
