In Pimpri-Chinchwad, a troubling trend is emerging where individuals not only flout the law but also resort to violence and threats when confronted by law enforcement. This concerning behaviour has prompted questions about the safety of police officials. In response, authorities have issued stern warnings, vowing to mete out severe legal consequences to anyone who dares to take the law into their own hands.

Despite the dedicated efforts of the police force to maintain public safety and uphold law and order, officers often find themselves facing hostility and aggression while performing their duties. Instances of traffic police being verbally abused and physically assaulted have become distressingly common. Moreover, there have been alarming incidents of civilians assaulting police personnel within the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, resulting in injuries to some officers.

A recent incident in the cloth market area of Pimpri exemplifies the challenges faced by law enforcement. When a police inspector and his team attempted to address pedestrians obstructing traffic, they were subjected to verbal abuse and threats, highlighting the brazen disregard for authority.

In another harrowing incident in Charholi, police constable Rahul Mote and his colleagues were enforcing traffic regulations when they encountered Prashant Santosh Kadam, whose car windows were illegally tinted. Despite warnings, Kadam callously attempted to run over Constable Mote with his motorcycle, leaving the officer critically injured. Kadam has since been apprehended and charged with obstruction of government work and attempted murder.

Within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissionerate alone, 28 attacks on police officers were reported from January to December last year, with two additional incidents occurring in January of this year.

In response to these challenges, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Pimpri-Chinchwad, Dr. Shivaji Pawar, has issued a stern warning to those who seek to undermine the authority of law enforcement. Stressing the importance of cooperation between citizens and the police, Dr. Pawar emphasizes that attacks on police officials will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
