Five Individuals Arrested for Theft of Gold Jewelry Worth Over Rs. 13 Lakh in Pune

Pune: Faraskhana police have apprehended a gang responsible for the swift theft of 21 tola gold jewelry worth Rs. 13 lakh 49 thousand from various shops for hallmarking within a span of twelve hours. All stolen items were recovered from the arrested individuals. Investigations revealed that the accused were workers employed in the targeted shop. The incident occurred on Sunday at around 5:30 a.m. at New Trishul Hallmarking Center in Ganesh Peth.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Lucky Dattatray Mohite (19, Sangli), Sachin Mohan Dadas (24, Atpadi, Sangli), Vishal Bhagwat Gosavi (21, Indapur), Atul Dattatray Kshirsagar (29, Solapur), and Suraj Bhagwan Mahajan (27, Solapur). The complaint was lodged by Sulabha Suresh Mane (48, Shaniwar Peth, Pune) at Faraskhana Police Station.

At New Trishul Hallmarking Center, various goldsmith shops in the city bring jewelry for hallmarking. On Sunday, thieves struck the center around 5:30 a.m. and stole the jewelry awaiting hallmarking. Upon discovering the theft, the plaintiff promptly reported the incident to Faraskhana police.

Through CCTV footage and other technical investigations, police traced the accused to the Malshiras area and apprehended them. All stolen items were recovered within twelve hours of the crime being reported.

Lucky Mohite, an employee at the plaintiff's shop, conspired with former colleagues Sachin Dadas and Vishal Gosavi to orchestrate the theft. With assistance from Atul Kshirsagar and Suraj Mahajan, they carried out the theft of gold jewelry intended for hallmarking. Upon appearing in court, the accused were remanded to police custody for four days. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Arvind Shinde.
