Pune: A day after Taiwan was rocked by an earthquake, tremors rattled parts of North India including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab. On the Richter Scale, the earthquake measured 5.3 magnitude.

In a post on X, earlier called twitter, the National Center for Seismology, said earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occured in Chambal, Himachal Pradesh.

According to reports, the tremors did not cause any loss of life or damage to property. The tremors lasted a few seconds.

On this day in 1905, a massive 8-magnitude earthquake struck the Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, leading to widespread casualties and destruction. On Wednesday, an earthquake had rocked Taiwan killing around 10 people and injuring more than 800. Hundreds of buildings were damaged and tsunami warning was issued. Massive landslides were also recorded. The quake which was of 7.4 magnitude was the strongest in 25 years in Taiwan.
