Mumbai: The National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC), under National Film Development Corporation of India Limited (NFDC) was thrilled to announce the screening of the iconic film "Jewel Thief" as part of its esteemed series, ‘Chronicles of Timeless Treasures’. Every Saturday at 4 pm, cinephiles are invited to indulge in the splendor of restored classic cinema at NMIC.

"Jewel Thief," a 1967 masterpiece directed by the renowned Vijay Anand, stands as one of Indian Cinema's finest suspense dramas. This meticulously restored classic, made possible by the dedicated efforts of the National Film Heritage Mission by National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune, promises to transport audiences to a bygone era of cinematic brilliance.

To mark this exclusive event, NMIC was honored to welcome the esteemed actress Ms. Esha Gupta as the chief guest. Ms. Gupta's presence adds an aura of elegance and significance to this celebration of cinematic excellence.

Speaking about the efforts, Esha Gupta said- “Along with the older generation, this initiative undertaken by NFDC-NMIC-NFAI will make the younger generation aware of the beautiful cinema legacy of Indian Cinema.” As someone from the film fraternity, she spoke about the stark contrast in the techniques of filmmaking. “Being an admirer of Vyjayantimala, I was awestruck by her natural beauty on screen when I witnessed the movie Jewel Thief here and the elegant grace with which the yesteryear heroines used to carry themselves”.

In conjunction with the screening, NMIC recently hosted a "Capture Your Moment" contest, inviting visitors to explore the museum and create reels in collaboration with the institution. The winning entry was selected by Esha Gupta herself, who expressed her joy at the opportunity to visit the museum and witness the restoration of such a beloved classic.
