Pimpri- Chichwad: In a recent development, the Wakad police have apprehended ten individuals on charges of participating in illegal betting activities during an IPL match between the Gujarat Titans and Kings XI Punjab.

The incident unfolded when twelve people were found involved in exchanging money with citizens through a betting application.

As per the information, the accused allegedly resorted to gambling and solicited money from citizens using a betting application during the IPL match between the Gujarat Titans and Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. They purportedly employed fraudulent means, such as opening fake bank accounts and conducting transactions through credit and debit cards, to extort money. The illegal operation came to light when the Wakad police received information about the illicit betting activities.

Promptly responding to the tip-off, the Wakad police initiated an investigation and subsequently registered a case against the twelve individuals involved. Ten of the accused were promptly apprehended, while efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the remaining two suspects. Police constable Sunil Kate filed the complaint at the Wakad police station, initiating legal proceedings against the accused.

Upon the arrest of the ten individuals, law enforcement officials seized materials amounting to Rs. 6,58,000 from the accused. Furthermore, the Wakad police also issued a stern warning for perpetrators of this kind of illegal offence.
