Pune, Apr 27: Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder -President of MIT World Peace University, Pune, India and a renowned and revered visionary educationist of India, was conferred with Honorary DLit by the Brigham Young University (BYU), Utah, USA for his exemplary lifelong work in the field of education and service to humanity.

 

 

 

The conferring ceremony took place at the Marriott Centre, Provo, Utah as a part of the Convocation of the 2024 batch of BYU on Thursday, 25th April 2024. Nearly 25000 people attended the grand Convocation Ceremony, where over 1500 students of BYU were conferred graduate, Masters and doctoral degrees in various disciplines.

 

 

 

Present during the conferring ceremony were President of BYU Dr. C. Shane Reese, Elder D Todd Christofferson, Elder Ronald Rasband, Elder Gerritt Gong, Mr Ron Gunnell, Mr Richard Nelson, Mr King Hussein, Dr Ashok Joshi and other members of the Board of Trustees, BYU.

 

 

 

While conferring the DLit, President C Shane Reese lauded the contribution of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad to the field of education and to the promotion of interfaith dialogue in order to usher in an era of peace.

 

 

 

 

 

In his Acceptance Speech, Prof. Karad profoundly thanked BYU and its Board of Trustees for according him such a rare honour. He also congratulated the graduating students and wished them luck for their future endeavours. Prof Karad gratefully mentioned the lasting influence that the great Philosopher Saints of Maharashtra like Saint Dnyaneshwar and Saint Tukaram and iconic scientists like Dr. Albert Einstein have had on his life. He also mentioned his elder sister Smt Prayagakka Karad, who was more than a mother to him. Most importantly, Prof Karad also acknowledged the inspiration that he has derived from the Great Noble Son of India Swami Vivekanand and his words of wisdom that have been his guiding light.

Prof. Karad also expressed the hope that BYU, which is a leading university of USA and MIT WPU would forge a collaboration and involve other universities of the world to promote the concept of Value Based Education System for the establishment of Culture of Peace in the world.
