Pune: DAYS after 600 lawyers raised voice over some vested interest group trying to put pressure on the judiciary, now four retired judges of the Supreme Court and 17 former high court judges have stepped forward and complaint that there was rise in attempt to undermine the judiciary.

The former judges have written a letter to the Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud. They have drawn his attention to the alleged attempts from certain quarters to put pressure on the judciary. They have alleged that there were attempts at spreading misinformation about the judiciary and disaparagement. The former judges have sought intervention of the Chief Justice of Inida to safeguard the judiciary. 

Among the former judges who have written a letter to CJI include Krishna Murari, M R Shah, Dinesh Maheshwari and Deepak Verma.

The former judges said certain elements who are trying to put pressure on the judiciary are motivated by narrow political interests and personal gains.

They alleged that these people were trying to eroade the public confidence in the judiciary.

The former judges alleged that the methods adopted by those elements were an attempt to influence the judicial process.

The former judges alleged that these elements were casting aspersions on the integrity of the courts.
